1958 Gibson ES-125 Sunburst

1958 Gibson ES-125 Sunburst

Introduced in 1941 to replace the ES-100 model, the ES-125 has seen a variety of cosmetic and hardware changes over the year. With a 'T' prefix for the FON, this example dates to 1958, right within Gibson's golden era.

Featuring a full, hollow-body construction, the ES-125 boasts a single P-90 in the neck position, no cutaway, and a simple volume and tone control layout. This example has seen some serious tobacco smoke in its time, in which the original sunburst finish has darkened. The original silk-screen logo is intact, as are the original single line Kluson tuners.

The P90 pickup presents as original, and absolutely sings in this example. An examination of the pots with a mirror indicates that both pots and capacitor have been replaced, as have the volume and tone knobs. The bridge is a replacement. A strap pin has also been installed on the heel of the neck.

Cosmetic condition is reasonable for its age, with some noticeable smoke discolouration all throughout the instrument. Hardware is fully functional, and plays well with a low action. Includes a non-original 'Gibson' branded case.
