Cool old Melbourne-made lap steel from notable instrument maker, Peter McCarthy!
Made out in Richmond, these were around at the same time as Moody lap steels coming out of Sydney, and which often were sold under the Stradivarius name to the Adelaide College of Music. A super simple design, these lapsteels tend to have some lovely mid-range warmth due to their hand wound pickups.Ā
Cosmetically, this example has been very well loved. The paint is starting to flake in a few noticeable areas, and much of the back of the instruments fabric is well worn. A screw is also missing from the output jack.Ā
Hardware and electronics are fully functional. Includes what appears to be the original case, possibly a Stamford made example.Ā
